Hi

I’m building a PC for the first time and I’ve heard it’s difficult to overclock a processor if you use 8GB RAM, but I’d like to try it anyway. I have a few questions that I love some help with…

Q1 - Can anyone advise me what overclock I may get out of the following rig:

• Intel Q6600
• OCZ 8GB RAM (4x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz
• XFX nForce 780i SLI (MB-N780-ISH9)

My rig will be very similar to this:

I’ve heard temps may be an issue so I’m prepared to invest in water cooling and a dedicated fan unit for the RAM.

I’d like to try and get 3GHz or more out of the Q6600 with 8GB RAM, but failing that I’m happy to either:

a. Chuck 4GB of RAM if I can guarantee an OC of at least 3.2GHz
b. Leave all 8GB of RAM in and settle for a lower or even no OC

Q2 - Have I selected a good motherboard for this set-up?

I really want to run 2 8800GTXs in SLi, which is why I’ve gone for this model. But if it destroys all chance I have of getting a decent OC, I’ll definitely consider something else with a different graphics set-up.

Thanks,

Exige
