I may try and achieve 2.8 GHz, certainly no more than 3.0GHz on good air.

What will be the best RAM to do this with and why? Crucial Callistix PC2-5300 or OCZ Platinum PC2-6400?

I am new to overclocking and not an extremist, religious or otherwise! ;)

Thanks :)

lol, you mean Ballistix?

im planning to buy the Ballistix. but the OCZ is at 800Mhz, which is a step up from 667Mhz. (667Mhz is 2x333, the CPU will be running at 333X9=3Ghz)

Ok, I have read many guides to overclocking and understand it a bit more.

OcUK memory (PC2-8500) is now back in stock which is tempting, but only has a one-year warrantee which puts me off.

My mind is telling me that if I buy RAM at a factory rate that is higher to begin with, I will have less complications when I come to overclocking my Q6600 CPU.

E.g. If I had a set of OCZ PC2-6400, I could get away with not overclocking the RAM at all, could I not?

I have the crucial ballistix and am at 3.0GHz 1.37Vcore (0.3 Vdroop  ) on my q6600. The ballistix havent even broken a sweat at 833Mhz and im sure they can reach higher. (Actually I remember somebody hit 1000mhz on them).
