At the minute, I have just been raising the FSB, with no problems.

But I have hit 280Mhz, and when I go any further, it displays a message about a failed POST test.

I am thinking I may need to raise ym voltage, but don't know what to.

Temps so far are mid 30s IDLE at 2.52GHz.

i suggest just increasing the voltage in the smallest increments possible until it becomes stable (test with orthos for a few hours) and make sure that the load temps dont go over 70.

I have changed my mind on overclocking.

After running @ 2.5GHz (trying to get past the 280MHz FSB barrier) for a few horus, I got a BSOD.

I'm guessing it was due to instability.

So thanks for the help, but I think I'm screwed in terms of overclockability.

i dont see why you would be, you should be able to get the chip way over 2.5ghz lol. make sure that you ram voltage and timings are correct (stock) by manually putting it in. And dont be afraid to increase the vcore, you should be able to get that chip to 3ghz easy.

Any advice on voltages and timings before I go check?

I know the RAM is rated at 5-5-5-15 but voltages I would have no idea.

And what's dangerous for the vcore? I increased it one option up and it made difference.

Would anyone be willing to add me on xfire / MSN and help me as I go through my restarts telling me what to look for? I'm useless :o

Make sure you are not overclocking the RAM by mistake... and make sure it stays within the stock settings for everything, including voltage, timings and frequency.

With RAM out of the way a G0 should be able to reach 3GHz (333FSB x 9 Multiplier) at stock settings or with a small voltage increase.

My G0 at 1.4v is stable at 3.4GHz with RAM at stock values. If you have 4 RAM sticks btw you might want to increase FSB voltage and MCH voltage a bit.

Edit: I see you are using a Bad axe, the old 975X mobos werent able to reach high FSBs, as such i have no idea how to overclock them really, my mobo is based on P35 which overclocks like crazy >_>. Sorry mate.

Oh well, then you shouldnt expect any great overclocks from the B3, they were running hot and never overclocked that much...

Watch your temps with the B3

Check your RAM is at the right voltage 2.2V is usualy OK for DDR2. I was having problems clocking mine until I realised it was set to default on something stupidly low. After changing it and uping the core voltage a bit 1.4050V im up to 3.4GHz and still going.
