i am trying to get me head around whether i should manually overclock or use precision boost on my 2700.

the strange thing i have tried an OC to 3.7 and in heaven that gives me a higher score than stock but the actual maximum boost i then get according to HW monitor is 3.8 (thats on all cores)

However in assassins creed odyssey i get a higher frame rate and a higher lowest frame rate when running the CPU at stock rather than at OC - then i get a maximum boost rate of 4.1 on some cores (according to H/w monitor)

from what i have seen PBO only applies to x cards - is that right.

in fact as i game at 4k i wonder whether its actually worth running a overclock at all

In assassins creed odysey my highest bench was running at 3.7 but using AMD master game mode which i understand cuts the core count in half.

cheers - decided to stop my OC at 3.8 with 1.275 volts. Stays at around 60 degrees with the stock cooler so happy with that

not sure what reasonable volts are but as i have a stock cooler then it may be wiser to stay with a moderate OC at 3.8.

that does give a performance boost over stock now in assassins creed odyssey.
