I need to know how to go about overclocking my venice 3500+ after my shocking 3d mark and pc mark scores of 3741 and 3729. Now my memory is in a state at the moment, 2x 256Mb ddr400 and 1x 512mb ddr333 sticks, and the cpus ht bus is running at 800mhz instead of 1000mhz for some reason, all of which may account for such a bad score :p

Well you dont need to oc to fix the HTT part. Just go to your bios find htt and set to 5x or it might be 1000. Check your motherboard manual if you dont know where its located.

Thanks thats a great faq. :)

I assume that overclocking alone can't damage your hardware, only when you increase the voltage?

It can damage some hardware as you are running it out of spec.Generally things get hotter the faster they run, so good cooling is essential right from the start and you often don't have to increase voltages to start with. You can OC on std volts.
If I remember back to NF2 days Hard drives used to get corrupted when and OC went wrong and one had to re-install to get things going again.
