Hello all.

So ive just bought a new motherboard in the hope that i can overclock better then my P5B-VM - this time i went with a P5N32-E SLI PLUS and so far it seems a pretty good motherboard.

Only trouble is i cant get my E6600 to go beyond 3.2 GHZ, 3.3 at a push and thats with a 120mm fan cooling the chipset.

I have reduced the CPU multiplier have got a FSB of 425 out of the motherboard so far so im wondering if i have just found the max for the CPU? I was hoping to get the system Stable at 9 x 400 for 3.6GHZ
At the moment its sitting very nicely and orthos stable at 8 x 400.

What im asking is for any tips and tricks for getting more out of this mobo and cpu, i have upped the cpu voltage to 1.55v and all it seems to to it make it hot.

I think ill add better chipset cooling for a start, probably Noctua NC-U6 for each of the chipsets and see if that helps. I could add them too the water loop but im not sure if i want to re-do the loop just yet.

The voltages at the moment are:

VCore - 1.47
CPU VTT - 1.39
12 VHT - 1.26
NB Core - 1.55
SB Core - 1.65
Memory - 2.22

Any help at all would be appreciated

Just had another play with voltages and got the vcore down to 1.42 and started orthos, anything below that and it fails immediately.

I also dropped the voltage od the north bridge down to 1.5v as i found out if i remove the fan several seconds later the pc freezes. i will try to drop this some more if it proves stable.

Just thought this may be of interest - i just happen to have a lian li temp monitor/fan controller lying around so id thought i'd fire it up and put the 3 temp probes between the fins of the northbridge, and 2 mosfet coolers.
The results where

Nothbridge - 47C
Mosfet 1 - 43C
Mosfet 2 - 40C

and the reading in PC Probe is 38C

If i remove the procariously balanced 120mm fan then the northbridge jumps frightningly quickly to 60C at which point i put the fan back before the pc crashes.

And what does PC Probe report when the northbridge jumps to 60C - 37??????

So my guess is the MB temp sensor is no where near the Northbridge or certianly not in any kind of useful place
