This is my first attempt at overclocking.
My chip = AMD 3700+ San diago 2.2mhz

I have run 2 tests so far.
Test1, I got up to FSB/HTT of 315mhz with multiplyer of X5. = 1575mhz
Test2, I got up to FSB/HTT of 233mhz with multiplyer of X11. = 2563mhz

Obviously test 2 overclocks fasted, but on most forums they advise using a slightly lower multiplyer Why? when in my test the higher multiplyer is best.

Thanks for help.
I now have basic idea for overclocking the cpu but the memory is really doing my head in. I have read loads of forum posts and just don't get it. Hopfully if I post all my settings somone can give me some pointers.

FSB/HTT = 233mhz
multiplyer = X11
Cpu = 2563mhz
HT = X4

Memory is cheap GEIL 2mb pc3200 400mhz (2X1mb)
memlock = 333mhz (was 400mhz but was informed to turn it down, should I put it back to 400?)
1T/2T = 1T (was 2T)
CAS latency (TCL) = 3
Min RAS (TRAS) = 8T
RAS to CAS (TRCD) = 4T
Row pre charge (TRP) = 4
Row cycle (TRC) = 11T
Row cyc (TRFC) = 14T
Read write (TRWT) = 5T
Write recover (TWR) = 3T

Not sure if any other info is needed.

Thanks

:) Fantastic :)

I have set mem @ 2.5-3-3-7
I changed over to 244*10.5 , which makes memory run at 197mhz.

just running Prime95 as I type.

I have 1 last question (promise). What was the maths used to get at 244X10.5 197mhz?

oops :confused:

System just failed prime95 test after 10mins.

Probably a memory hitch, but would like to turn the fsb/htt down 1 or 2mhz first or will this mess other settings?

A64MemFreq - very handy.....

Thanks for your help mikey1280 & hi 2bullish :)

I have just put fsb/htt down to 242 and running primatest

As you requested my volts are stock. cpu = 1.4 mem = 2.6

Mikey1280 - I am just on fan that came with cpu, but temps are looking good at 48ish under load. hay starting to sound not so noobish.

2bullish - those mem settings might be asus specific as I cant see them on my friends board, but will be worth finding out at some point.

Thanks for your help.

I put the volts onto 1.425 and prima ran over night without any probs :D

I am going to order a new fan, not sure which yet.

Thanks
