Hi, I have have managed to get my i7 950 overclocked to 4ghz, and just have a few questions about settings.

Currently it is at
bclk 200
multi 20
Vcore 1.35v
QPI volt 1.30v
mem running at stock speed and timings.
all other settings at auto or as default

my system is
i7 950
asus x58 sabertooth m/b
6gb corsair dominator 1600mhz
corsair h70 with 2x viper fans
corsair 700d case with 3x140mm fans as standard, plus the hs fans pulling air in.
corsair 850hx psu
geforce 580 gtx.

core temps hitting about 80-82 degrees with prime 95, 65-70 with games.

1 - i have read about setting something (uniclock? can't remember the name) to twice the memory speed +1. Is this necessary, or can I just leave it on auto?

2 - Is 200x20 the best setting, or should I try a higher multi/lower bclk and put up with the memory running slower?

3 - I have hyperthreading/turbo etc. enabled. Does this mean it is running at 21x multi under load - so effectively 4.2ghz? Should I leave it like this, or turn it off so it sticks to 4ghz, and maybe be able to drop the voltage a bit?

4 - are there any other settings I should be changing, or best to leave the rest on auto?

Thanks

would be better to have a higher multi and lower bclk.

it will be rumming at the speed you set it at (4ghz) no 4.2 but you can check it with cpuz or coretemp realtemp intelburn etc

Thanks for the replies

Your uncore clock (uclk) should be 2 x memory speed +1, ie 2 x 1600 + 1 = 3201.

ok, but will the auto setting have it at this already?

------------

It does seem to need 1.35v at 4ghz, that's why I'm wondering if any of the other settings might need altered and I might be able to get it down a bit?

------------

So does turbo boost not kick in when overclocking? I thought I read somewhere that it would still bump up the speed, and could be the reason I need so much voltage?

edit - just reading that turbo adds an extra multiplier under load?

Dunno about other mobo's but i can turn off turbo, but still use the turbo multi if i wish.

One thing i have spotted though recently is a lot of 950's seem to require over 1.3+v for stable 4ghz.
