right so after having some probs overclocking my 144 over 3ghz with my old Gigabyte mobo, Ive swapped to a Ultra-D - my question is: would it be OK if I just pushed the FSB right up to what I had on my old mobo, so the processor was at 3ghz again, or would it be sensible to build up gradually.

I know the CPU can handle 3ghz stable, I dont wanna damage new motherboard tbh.

I'd still jam it up steadily... you don't wanna risk frying anything. on an ultra-D you should get to 3Ghz fine, but there's no harm in taking a couple of hours to get it that high...

When I switch Mobo's I tend to start with a nice little 25% OC, get that stable then work from there, adding volts/dividers as and when required.

this reminds me, I need to tighten all the settings back up on my 3000+... it's running very loose after a benching sesion :D
