Hi,
I bought a pre-overclocked system from OCUK.
The settings were not set when it came, but after an e-mail they sent me a file i could use to set the overclock.

Everything was running well, then i had a USB problem that needed a BIOS update to fix, it's all fixed but it's lost it's OC settings.

My query, can i just use the file that OCUK gave me, or will the new BIOS be incompatible with the old settings, and will it bork my mobo?

It's a .cmo file, if that makes any difference......

E-mail from OCUK on how to do it.....

Dear Customer,
please find attatched, 3.4GHz overclock profiles for the p55d Motherboard before you apply this profile please download CPUZ if you unzip and run this in windows - you should see an accurate clockspeed readout put the computer under load and if the cpu speed does not jump to 3400Mhz then the overclock settings will need applying please remember that windows system properties only reads the stock speed of the chip you need a cpu speed monitor to accuratly see the current rate of the cpu.

If your cpu is not overclocked - please save the attatched ROM file to a USB pen go into the BIOS of the computer by tapping delete when the computer starts up [make sure that the usb pen is in the system]
once in the BIOS, scroll across to the tools tab
there you should see an option called ASUS OC PROFILE
select the USB drive using the TAB key
then select the 5750.cmo file on the USB pen
press enter and this should apply the settings
then press esc to return to the oc profile save utility in the bios
there, you can save the overclock as a profile if you wish
press F10 to save and exit the BIOS

I think you would be safer asking OCuk support directly, either by phone or via the forum CS section. I wouldn't want to give you advice that may adversely effect your warranty etc. This is possibly why you have had any replies.

Upgrading the bios of the motherboard can change its overclockablity, for better and worse.

It may just need a little tweaking.

If you'v already flashed the new bios, and the pc is still stable after reapplying the overclock, then your fine.

If it crashes.... then you may need to up the voltages a step.. or more.

But this would ideally be somthing you do whilst keeping an eye on temps etc...

I'm not sure if it's a new clause they've started adding, but I think upgrading the BIOS voids your warranty on the overclock. So OcUK may use this excuse, however they do seem quite helpful so it may be worth contact OcUK support. They may have a version of the overclock profile for use with your new BIOS version. However they may have used a specific BIOS version for the overclock because the other don't work as well (this was the case with the bundle I bought).
