Tried using the MOBO's auto overclock settings, it goes in stages 3-5-8-10% overclocks.

Currently at 5% which is fine, but if I choose 8 or 10% the screen goes black when I click save and exit on the bios..any ideas?

Might be a unstable overclock, you might need to manually increase the vcore slightly and check the ram speed or the cpu can't handle the extra clocks.

Edit: Di you need to do a BIOS reset or anything like that.

PS - Your sig is to big, max 400 x 75 ;)

haha yeah i noticed my Sig was big grr.

not done any bio rests. i thought my chip could handle 10%. Am i wring for assuming the mobo overclock would include vcore changes?

On my Asus M4A77TD-PRO it does change the voltages, but incorrectly :p. It increases my vcore beyond what amd recommend. It's not massively over, and mine does boot, but for only a 10% gain it's a bit rubbish.

By manually changing my vcore and fsb I can get roughly a 25% increase no trouble at a lower voltage. If you want to overclock this is the route I'd take :).

I found someone wrote this, seems like he has the same specs, but could someone explain what he has done, and I have faster memory so how would I go about it???

quote: Just built a new machine with Athlon II X2 240. Got mine up to 3.2GHz (14 x 228 MHz). Not sure if, or how, my ASUS M4A78LT-M-LE board will let me alter the FSBRAM ratio, but the memory chips are probably at their maximum at 607 Mhz FSB (got DDR3 1066MHz running at 1214MHz). But the system is stable at 39C under full load (30C idle). It looks like a good overclocker, so I may invest in some faster RAM and push it a bit further. Things have come along way since I used to overclock my old Barton CPU (ran very hot).

any tips at all what settings I could do on here
