Overclocking an ATI HD5850...

to get good clocks out of the card you need to flash the card with a bios that unlocks the clocks, you will then need to use msi afterburner to increase the voltage and you can also adjust the clocks there as well, im currently running my 5850 at 1.2v 950mhz core and 1225mhz memory thats 225mhz increase on core and memory!

im having trouble with max aa @ 1920x1200 causing input lag on titles, nfs shift does it, cod4 does it. i was expecting the card to handle these without sweat but now im prooved wrong. will the overclock irradicate these issues, i tryed a mild oc at 850mhz on the core and 1100 on the memory and it caused artifacting, are these cards really kept that close to the minimum voltage for there clocks?

i don't know how you lot can clock to such extreme levels while staying stable. the second i overclock by the slightest, crysis crash's. i've given up i've just left it at default. however if i overclock by mad margins on other games which are not so gpu hungry it makes no difference for obvious reasons.

at that res, i think you need crossfire to get max AA out of it. although on a 4890 i get max aa and @ 1920x1200 no probs on cod. shift i can run @ 4xaa i think. your 5850 should be able to see you through those though at 8x
