Overclocking an X800 XT

Howit all,

I've had this card a few months now, been great. But I want a little more power, because I like to see what it can do. It's in my Shuttle, however I don't have a case on the Shuttle, so heat isn't an issue, well, in that area anyway.

What program(s) can I use to over clock and test this card?

ATI tool is probably your best bet.

Easy to use and work your way around plus it has the advantage of a built in artifact scanner.

I used ATI Tool on my ATi 9800 Pro, didn't think I could use it on the X800 XT as well.

Yep it works a treat on the X8XX series.

I had mine running at 550mhz /1100mhz with ATI Tool no problem. It was fitted withan Arctic Cooling 4 Rev 2 Silencer so could have gone higher I think

Another quick question,

Wil overclocking this card actually make any difference? and how far can I safely push it?

It will make it faster yes. I have always found it helps more with your minimum frame rates so making your gameplay smoother.

I can't remember the stock clocks of that particular card but you should be able to push at least 50mhz out of the core and 100mhz out of the memory without a sweat.
