I recently cleaned out my mates PC as it had accumulated a lot of dust. It was idling at about 63C :/ It idles around 50 now. Not great but better than it was.

Anyway, I was wondering how well these chips overclock. What sort of frequencies people got ( i know its old) and what sort of volts to put through it.

Its a thoroughbred core Athlon XP 2600+ running stock at 2.08GHz with 1.65V (stock) on socket A.

Anyone with any experience ?

I took mine up to ~2.6ghz with 1.93V.....ran it at that for 9 months before it died :)

That was on an Asus NForce 2 board with Mushkin BH-5 RAM, water-cooled with a Maze 4 block and a heatercore rad.

think he'd kill me if i killed his lol

If I got it to 2.3 - 2.4GHz would the results be worth it? Or is he flogging a 3 legged donkey with asthma? It'd have to remain on air.

I got a fairly decent boost when overclocking. If you get 2.4 comfortably then that should be noticeable.
