Hi, tried overclocking my q6600 just to see what overclocking is like since I've never done it before, well not on a cpu. Thought I'd return it to 2.4, purely for an exercise to see how much the temps would drop - but they haven't much at all. Previous to o/c the highest core reached, under full load, around mid 40's. Now on idle three of the cores are in the 40's. Bit puzzled, any suggestions. Thanks.

The cores initially were : approx - 35 / 33 / 31 / 25 on idle. I believe I've done no damage and I only o/c it to 3.00 from 2.4.

Just upping the clock speed wont really alter the temperature of it. It's when you start increasing the voltage to get to those clocks that the temperature would increase.

higher ambient room temp than what it was before? was the PC on and idling for a while before you noted the original idle temps?
