Overclocking and Speedstep?

Hi, just fitted my new cooler so thought I'd look at upping the clock! I followed these instructions (http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/over...-overclocking-guide-beginners.html#post110576) with the first picture, and upped my Turbo Ratio to 38 (3.8ghz - light for a first overclock).

However, I want my processor to step back to 1.6GHz for heat purposes when not being stressed, just speedstep does at stock. At the moment typing this, my processor is running at 3.8GHz. If I put my turbo ratio back to 'auto', my processor reverts back to its standard behaviour of 1.6 -> 3.7 at turbo.

I'm running a 2500k and a p8p67 LE.

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Found the cause. On P8P67 boards, when the turbo ratio is changed, the 'auto' behaviour of the C1E and other C-states changes to disabled. You have to go into the BIOS and change them to Enabled from Auto.

Will be useful if anyone else suffers from this problem too.
