I just bought and built and new computer and would like to know what i should take my CPU to, it is a 2.66ghz core 2 duo e8200 wolfdale, with a Zalman 9700 LED cooler on top. My gpu is a ASUS geforce 8800 GTS 512, stock cooler. Thanks:)

For 8800GTS:

1) Load RivaTuner 2.08
2) Load ATi Tool
3) Start Artifact Test in ATi Tool
4) Unlink GPU clock and Shaders in RivaTuner
5) Begin increasing GPU clock speed in 10Mhz Jumps until ATi tool starts to detect artifacts, at which point reduce clock speed 10Mhz and leave to test for 10mins
6) When artifact free GPU clock has been found begin overclocking the shader clock in 10Mhz jumps and repeat artifact testing procedure used in step 5
7) When artifact free GPU and Shader clock has been found begin overclocking the memory, repeating artifact testing procedure outlined in step 5
8 ) When all 3 clocks have been maxed leave ATi Tool to undertake 30mins of Artifact Testing, if at the end of 30mins no artifacts have been detected overclock is deemed successful.

just out of interest but which board and ram did you get with all this??
i have a similar set up on the OCUK value p35 board and 4 gig of ram and would be interested to see how far this could go

the ASUS 8800GTS is the best clocker out of the all the GTS brands, no idea why, but you should easily manage 800/2000/2000 with your card.

Also, your E8200 should manage 3.6ghz pretty easily

You may also want to upgrade to some better drivers. I know in the case of my BFG, the nforce drivers made a massive difference!

Wouldn't bank on it, i've had 2 ASUS GTS's, neither would do over 775 on the core, or break 1900 on the shader.

in ati tool im following the steps given by HeX
when im checking for artifacts the clock keeps freezing but then continuing. say it freezes at 15 secs for 10 secs it will continue at 25 secs
whats this mean
it does this when im doing the shader
core is set
