Hi,

I'm having a few issues with overclocking my new Asus board, I'm struggling to work out how to overclock my E6400 up to 3.4 /3.6 with my memory between 900 - 1000mhz.

On my old gigabyte board it was a case of raise FSB / change RAM multiplier / lower LDT to 3/4 and away you go, no volt increase or anything and it was stable, I'm struggling to understand all the settings on the new Asus and I'm getting sick of reseting the BIOS (the auto recover doesnt always work)...

I've installed my new water cooling kit and want to see what I can get it up to, at default my core is idling at 21'c and 24'c underload :D

thanks

thanks Fenlock,

However I am still having problems with this....

I have raised the Vcore upto 1.5v, RAM to 2.1v frozen the RAM to 800mhz but raised the FSB to 1500mhz (stupid quad pumping) which gives a CPU of 3ghz but it keeps freezing during post, any ideas?

temps are 20 - 24'c

thanks

I followed some of the pointers on the post Fenlock linked to and have finally managed to get over 1500FSB. All it took was maxing out the VTT voltage. :p

tried that didnt work, any chance you post your settings? the CPU and RAM did 3.6ghz in my old DS4 board so I know they're ok and its now water cooled so the idle temps are about 22'c, its got to be a setting but not sure where..

Don't trust the Asus temperature monitor for starters.

It took 1.55v for 3.6ghz to be stable on my P5N-E (650i chipset) - and raising chipset voltage to 1.563v helped too.

What memory do you have?

Be aware the vdroop on these boards are crap; ive hit a wall at 3.7ghz because i cant stabilise my voltage.

Geil 6400 but running in unlinked mode (800mhz), cranked core upto 1.5v vtt to max and RAM to 2.10 also gave NB/SB a bit extra :)

Its water cooled so temps are 22'c idle (stock) and I've fitted a new 00w tagan today incase it was that, it gets to windows usually then freezes

I've noticed in the BIOS that the 12v rail is only at 11.65v, is this a bit low? I got a new 700w tagan from OCUK at the weekend.

I do have a 8800 and 5 SATA drives but my 530w tagan managed it ok...

what I did find out last night is that it looks like its the FSB, If I run it at 375x8 -3ghz ,(RAM set to 800) it seems fairly stable (it locked up in 06 but not CSS or aquamark) but if I run it at 400*7 (2.8ghz) it either doesnt post or hangs during boot.

I've given it 1.5v on the vcore and bumped the NB/SB a touch but no luck
