I recently overclocked my Q6600 to 3.35 Ghz on water cooling, I've heard of people pushing this up to 4 - 4.2 ghz and was just looking for a little advise, I've currently got it stable on:

FSB Frequency: 371

PCIE Frequency: 100

FSB Strap to NB: 333 Mhz

CPU Volt: 1.46875

FSB Termination Volt: !.40

Memory Volt: 1.90

NB Volt: 1.40

After running prime for a lengthy time the maximum temperature reached was 50C so i'm really hoping i can knock this up abit further, but when i try up the fsb a little more my system becomes unstable. I'm using an Asus P5Q SE/R
My bios is the original one the board had (was told updating the bios can cause a fry up mobo)

Many Thanks.

What RAM have you got in there? I have OCZ Gold that is specced at 2.1v, might be worth checking what Geil have to say about your stuff?

Also, have you reseated your NB heastink with good thermal compound?

And when you say unstable, what were you getting~? Bluescreens, lockups? Anything in the event log to suggest what the cause was? Run MemTest86 from boot with those settings from a CD to see if it's the RAM wetting itself?

Is that a B3 or a G0 chip? Tbh 4-4.2ghz is the exception, not the norm. Even the G0s don't clock to more than 3.6ghz usually.

4-4.2ghz is extremely rare on a q6600, ive had my q6600 GO prime stable for 8 hours at 3.8ghz on air with 1.512v core at load (1.50625 in bios) on a p5q deluxe. Wouldnt like to push it much further as the voltage increments required are pretty high. Prefer to run it at a more modest 3.6ghz on 1.4 volts. If updating the bios on an asus board, use the EZ flash utility and load the bios file from a usb stick, dont use the windows flash utility as it can be risky.

I'm using Geil Black Dragon 800 mhz 2 gig x2 i'm looking to get to about 3.8 really that'd be more than amazing, It's the G0 chip i indeed have put fresh thermal compound on (Arctic Ceramique Thermal Compound ) The errors i'm getting are reports from 5 minutes 5-10 minutes of Prime95 running, No errors for a very lengthy time at my current settings.

thanks for the replies so far.

The Geil Black Dragon stuff is rated at 2.20 volts.

So 5-5-5-15 at 2.20. Overclocks ok from what I know.

Have mine running at 1000mhz ish.
