Overclocking athlon x4 640

I couldn't get more than 3.6GHz on my C2 635 on air. Required 1.475V. If you've got water cooling and a C3 athlon there's no reason you couldn't get it to close to 4GHz provided your motherboard can take the high bus speed required. Just don't exceed 1.55V on the core and you'll be fine.

I've had a sempron 145 and a athlon ii x2 220 and both went up to 3.8ghz perfectly stable, but i was using the base clock as the multiplier was only x14. i think with a higher multiplier on your x4 640 you should get 4.0ghz at least under water. I'm hoping to get 4ghz+ with the x3 455 i've just ordered.

Wife's Athlon II X4 620 set conservative at 3.6GHz under a little Zaward Vapor 120 cooler has been running for couple years and never a bit of trouble. It's been so long ago I have no idea what setting are.
