from a topic in general discussion i've been advised to overclock my 3000+ to get a nice performance boost, its apparently capable of running at about 2.4ghz.

now the problem is, i havn't a clue on how to do this, and upon googling for guides about it, it seems the best way to go about it is to 'change the LDT bus speed but keep the CPU multiplier at 9x and memory divider at 1:1'.

but that means nothing to me, i havn't got a clue really! so could someone please be kind enough to let me know how to do that? do i need any software etc?

thanks in advance, i hope someone can make it simple enough for me to understand :)

nope i shall leave it on tonight then and see :)

i had to back it off a bit as it crashed at 2450 and 2400 when playing battlefield 2 for 5-10mins, but at 2340 (dont know why i picked that number?!), it ran no problems for over an hour. i shall certainly download that app and give it a go anyway!

out of interest what mobo are you using ?

Asus K8N4-E Deluxe

well the CPU isn't having any overclocking now for some reason, just stays on boot screen and wont go any further? it runs fine without any OCing though, any thoughts as to why? also, my new ram, (2GB G Skill ZX PC3200) is still running 2T timing, is that correct?

any advice on how to overclock my GPU (Sparkle 7800GT) and RAM, as well as sorting the CPU out, would be very much appreciated :)

its running BF2 fine now, 1280x1024, everything high apart from textures on meduim, and 4x AA, 40-50fps usually :)
