i ordered myself a nice new Intel Core i7 920 last week, only the processor i know.. not as stupid as you think though, cause now it'll force me to get the rest of the parts i've been dreaming of
Basically all i need is what would the best mobo and ram be for the cpu, best overclocker i mean aswell. i dont have an incredible amount of cash to spend, but these are the parts i was thinking of :
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Triple Channel
Antec 902 gaming case
Total comes to 497! i think around that 500 mark is what im aiming for
i'll use all the other bits from my current system which is:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 @ 3.6Ghz
Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme CPU cooler
Evga Nforce 680i Sli socket 775
4Gb OCZ Reaper HPC pc6400 ddr2 800mhz
OCZ GameXstream 1010w PSU
XFX Ati Radeon HD 5870
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 7600
AOC N22W 22" Widescreen monitor
(no one really needs to know about hd, mouse, keyboard etc.. so im leaving em)
I know what you will say when you see my q6600 and its clock, that there is 'no point in upgrading'. but there is. for just over a year now my motherboard has been making strange squeely/whistly sounds which i recently have found out is a bad capacitor. not nice to hear your system making wierd sounds when its busy, so ya. if i was going to buy a new motherboard, why not go for this whole new architecture etc.. to help my system be 'future ready', hence blowing 350 quid on the hd5870 (going to get a 2nd one when fermi comes out)
btw, my psu is not modular which is a big pain in the ... so was thinking of possibly getting a new psu while im at it, but i would appreciate some input on that one
i'll appreciate any answers, thx guys
