overclocking, bottom psu (2 questions)

Hi guys. I have 2 questions so I'll get straight to it.

1)So I've just ordered a new case for my rig as it seriously deserved a decent one. After ordering it I noticed that the PSU is placed at the bottom. Now, this is what I don't get. Heat rises. So why have a PSU under the GPU? Will this cause problems with heating up?

2) im considering overclocking my CPU but what are the benefits? It's for gaming but atm it loads pretty well and runs all my games on very high settings. Im hoping for even faster load times when booting the pc and games but would an SSD be a better option?

My computer:

AMD FX4300 3.8ghz
Sapphire Radeon 9 270X 2gb
Asrock Extreme 3 R2
Kingston Hyper X 8gb 1800
Standard data hdd

Thanks in advance

the psu at the bottom will be better, due to it sucking cool air in through the underneath of the case and exhausting it out through the psu rear vent (as apposed to the top mounting where it sucks in warm air from inside your case)

ssd will be best upgrade, then oc cpu slightly aswell

to answer your questions:

1) top mounted psus are so 1990s, (nearly) all modern cases are now have bottom psu mounts.
heat doesn't rise ;p hot air rises. but so??? with all those fans in the case, it wouldn't matter

2) overclocking helps fps (in a nutshell, not specifically correct)
getting an ssd helps with loading faster...they're 2 different things
from your phrasing, i think you probably want an ssd.
of course getting a cheap heatsink, to overclock the cpu, would help fps that much more too

I'm not sure if the case has vents under the PSU. I've seen a couple of PSUs mounted upside down and some normal

The case is a Zalman Z11 plus (im on a budget) so I'm not sure about what way to install. Am I right in saying install the PSU upside down if theres not vents under PSU?

Fps are around 60 - 75 depending on game am so I'll take the advice on SSD plus a ill overclocking. Btw I have an old zalman CPU cooler but it is........old. Worth using or get an upgrade?

the z11 has vents under the case for the psu, but they're not very large (specific to the zalman cases) i'd recommend mounting the psu fan-side up in this case (pun partially intended ;p).
and if you're on a budget, look at this case instead?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Zalman Z3 Plus Midi-Tower - Black £39.95
Total : £49.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

£20 cheaper

it probably won't have the correct fittings for the cpu anyhow.

with a cheaper case like above, you can get a heatsink like this:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Raijintek Themis Black Heatpipe CPU Cooler PWM - 120mm £19.99
Total : £25.97 (includes shipping : £4.98).

to overclock the cpu. bear in mind if you have tall ram, you'll need to get a smaller heatsink

When i google your case all the pics i see have the PSU with the vent down, are ya sure theres not a vent there? maybe its got a cover ya need to remove.

edit: ignore me tamzzy beat me to it.

why not fan facing down? makes sense to me

if its bottom mounting it should have fan grill in the bottom of the case aswell

because the psu intake looks like this:

I got a z11

Not had any issues with my Psu's mounted with the fan face down.

OP you should have waited a week or two,the new z11 neo is due to go on sale any time now, looks pretty suave

Looks smoother but no fan at front from what I can see.Plus im thinking off modding the zalman at some point. Seen someone install a mega fan at the front. Looks like a turbine lol.
