hi all i have the below spec and are looking to overclock the cpu as its the slowest part of my system
MSI G31M3-F iG31 Socket 775
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz
antec 900
2 gb ocz pc5400
250 hd
ati 4850
the problem comes when i try and alter the fsb multiplyer in the bios it is set at default of x7 and shows my cpu at stock 2.53GHz it wont let me change the value so i clicked load optimised settings on the right hand side it then showed a 9x muliplyer i can however change the fsb speed ( i think this is what its called ) from 265 to 333 in the hope of reaching 3ghz but it failed the overclocking saying that the mobo only supports a fsb of 1333 am i doing something wrong . also am i ok with stock fan with me having a antec 900 cpu normaly runs at 32c
all help appreciated oh and i have tried updating the bios it still works ok but not checked if it has updated the bios
