A quick question. Would I be able to Overclock a Core i7 920 to 4GHz with a 750W PSU, Rampage II Extreme Motherboard, a Corsair H50 CPU Cooler and a HD 5870?

easily, there are lesser spec bundles being shipped pre overclocked @ 4ghz

Question is ill defined. Assuming competant hardware install and time spent learning how to overclock it, yes it'll do 4ghz. If you slap it together and invest 40 seconds into overclocking then no, it wont.

Rampage is expensive for what it is, and 750W psu is vague. Which 750W psu, some of them are really crap

well im not looking at the bundles because they have components which i dont want in them (not sure if i can have one custom though).

@JonJ678 im prepared to spend as long as it takes to learn to overclock. the rampage also has a sound card which is almost the same price as the motherboard itself. so it isnt actually that expensive you are paying for a very good 100 quid sound card aswell :D the PSU is the corsair HX750 which (apparently) is very good and high quality

V4nger,

should be no probs, there are many step by step guides on how to achieve this, google it, with that set up it should run cool at room temps, not all DO's use low voltage some do need 1.4v,

The sound card packaged with the rampage isn't the same as the one you can buy separately, it's more like slightly improved onboard sound. It's certainly not worth £100 by itself.

The Corsair 750W is brilliant, no worries there.

Give me a shout if you run into problems setting it up, I live in Bath.

well actually im now looking at the gigabyte ga-x58 extreme which almost out performs the rampage and is 40 quid cheaper which means i can get some more high quality memory. or graphics card. or loads of things :D

@JonJ678 cool will do im a first time builder so would be great to have some experienced advice with it. for some reason i cant pm people at the moment

No PM as such on these boards for some reason, there's a trust system which directs messages at a hidden email address instead. Happy to help if I can.

A P6T is a good choice, though a P6T vs the Gigabyte UD5 is a difficult call.
