overclocking cpu and vista

No problems here.

Just read somewhere that vista doesn't like extreme overclocking. somewhere between 25-50% overclock max. But that could be a load of the brown stuff.

Personally I've found my 50% overclock to be stable.

And I was folding 24/7 in Vista for about 4 months.

Vista is less forgiving to anything less than a stable overclock.

I could get away with less Vcore in XPPro but vista64 will let you know sooner that your cpu ain't doing what it should.

Running Vista 32 bit with e6600 at 3.6. No stability probs at all. The only wierd thing is that Superpi mod will sometimes just hang for no reason, and other times will work perfect. If I use one of the non modded versions (doesn't show milliseconds) then it runs perfect every time. I thought it was a stability problem at first, but I've ran 2 12hr orthos sessions, and a couple of hours of memtest with no probs at all.

majority of people probably dont ensure their system is stable, if its stable it will be fine in vista :P

spb251272 - Why did you run 2? it will be fighting against each other... one session does both cores...

Yep. Stabilty of hardware should be totally independent of stability of the OS used, if one OS appears to overclock better its just a case of it tolerating instability more than another, hardware should be universally stable i.e same as stock speed across different software platforms.

Running Vista 64 on a core2 at 3.6 Ghz and have noticed slower and very inconsistent results when running super pi 1M, dont know why?
