Got any tips for overclocking Corsair Dominator GT 1866. These are HYNIX types right. I can get them to boot @ 2133 Mhz with standard timings 9-10-9-27 @ 1.5v they run superpi stable but not @ 32M during intelburntest I get errors after 2 or 3 tests and at standard profile it is stable. There is a good increase in GFlops performance though which is why I'd like to keep them clocked at 2133 but I am vastly struggling.

Go tCKE 6, tRTP 10, tWTR 10 also and LB14 Try again.

You could also try Cas 10 so 10-12-11-28 2T for 2133. Good hynix do 2600+ at this though.

Cheers dude I just snatched 3rd place on the superPi leaderboard so with these timings I may finally take the lead as I have the highest overclocked 3770k on there. Man if only I could learn the mathematics behind timings, it's a lot more complicated than BLCK and multipliers!

Managed to boot with 2133 + 2200 Mhz stable now thank you for all your help I think I can find my way around from here :-)

I've got the hang of this now; I have been playing with 2000Mhz as it's fairly stable. Was able to get 9-10-9-21 1T 11LB @ 2000Mhz I understand what to do with the timings and memory tweak is really useful for testing settings before altering in the BIOS as it is more stable. I'm just running rounds of 32M SuperPi successfully so I'm really happy and there is a good performance improvement. Particularly in 3DMark CPU tests which is what I am aiming to get.

In regards to error codes in windows 8 :-(

Which errors would tell me that I need to increase voltage / the timings are incorrect.

I assume that the computer won't boot if the voltage is too low, and I only need to increase the voltage for higher frequencies and not for timing control.

and then how to I distinguish those shutdown errors from cpu BCLK / Multiplier / Voltages problems?

I have considered using windows xp for superpi and ram benching as I have it on my hiren's boot usb. In some cases will this score me better timmings?

I like windows 8 a lot more and I've had a lot less performance issues than I had with windows 7. The error codes are presented by a big blue screen with a sad face :-(

e.g.

Clock_watchdog_timeout
attempt_to_execute_no_execute_memory
page_fault_in_non_paged_area
WHEA_INCORRECTABLE_ERROR

I think these are similar to windows 7 bluescreen codes.

Great I will just make note of them. I am going to have to start with a fresh overclocking profile and make notes of which settings cause what issues.

I initially had a big diary for things like that but with Ivybridge it's so easy I didnt' find that I needed one.
