Hi, I have an E6400 2.13Ghz CPU which I have clocked at 2.6ghz without changing anything else. It currently idles at 34-36C with arctic, so temperature doesn't seem to be an issue. Would be be OK to overclock it to 2.8Ghz with the same voltage settings? Will I have to change anything else? I don't want it to become unstable. I don't feel comfortable yet altering any settings related to overclocking except the FSB without aid, thanks!
The fsb maxes at 340 :(

The mobo I have is an ASRock 775twins-HDTV, with an ATI Xpress 200 chipset. (Which I don't believe is an ideal board for core 2)

My E6300 is now at 3.36GHz and the only alteration I have made is to the FSB. Just disable the unneeded bits in the BIOS (follow the sticky) and then up the FSB. Leave the voltages on auto and memory timings on SPD.

How far you get will depend on your memory and CPU.

You generally don't need to increase the voltage to get an E6400 to 400FSB so if you are maxing out at 340 then you should not need to alter anything else. Oddly enough the HD-775 TWINS is probably the best clocking ASRock Core2Duo board out there as it can boot as FSB's over 300. Go for it. And system instability is usually only an issue where both core of the CPU are maxed out so you need to stress test it. Download a copy of Orthos and run it for at least an hour to prove your system is stable.

Go for it!

I'm so scared of overclocking my E6300 :(
just a week ago i decided to overclock it from 2800mhz onwards and my hard drive failed. overclockings probs not got anything to do with it but still i dont want to risk my data getting lost again....

at the moment its only on something like 2400 with everything else on stock.. might give it a shot today beyond the 2800 mark but after i take a back up of everything ;)
