my friend is wanting to overclock his pc but he has basic knowledge of what he is doing, and just wants a bit of advice in what to do and what to expect,

any advice, hints or tutorial links more than welcome

CPU - E6850 3Ghz
MOBO - ASUS P5N32-E
CPU Cooler - Thermaltake Golden orb 2
CASE - Thermaltake VA9004 kandalf (120mm front fan, 120mm rear fan, 120mm top fan)
PSU- hyper type R2 770WATT

thanks in advance

EDIT: what do you think he could get up to?

bump...

...also what software should he be using i think he also whats a go OC'ing his GFX card 8800gts 612MB (the first GTS)

That was with a quad core CPU, 680i MB are much better clockers of dual cores. I can get at least 350mhz my P5N32-E with a E6600 but maxed out at 293mhz with a QX6700

You could have posted the settings rather than a link to a long thread which implies the MB doesn't OC.

so what you guys are saying is that his mobo isnt that good for overclocking?

also what does he need to use/do to OC his GFX card?

For a dual core CPU it is a medioca O/C board. You will probably be limited by the MB rather than the CPU but not by much.

For O/C a 8800 just install ntune and set the clocks via the control panel.
