Hardware Specs
Motherboard: MSI X48T Platinum Intel X48 (775) DDR3 1600FSB
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9450 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz 12MB-cache (1333FSB
Memory: 8GB DDR3 Corsair Memory TWIN3X4GB1600C9DHX (4X2GB)
HDD1: OCZ Core 64GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive
HDD2: 1TB Seagate, SATA-II, 32MB Cache
HDD3: 1TB Seagate, SATA-II, 32MB Cache
Graphics: 512Mb GDDR3 9800GTX - HDTV, DUAL DVI Xpervision
PSU: Hiper 680w HPU-5K680 SLi Certified ATX 2.2 PSU
Problem
Set up and built the above PC, and other than I needed to put a second Power lead into the graphics card (does it really need 2?). all appeared to be well. Then occasionally the system would freeze - nothing logged to event viewer etc.
It would take a few reboots to get it back - I doubt this is a windows problem (It has hung whilst in the BIOS before), Every so often it will give me a
“previous attempt of overclocking failed....” when I boot it
Note: Dynamic over clocking is disabled in the BIOS! I have ran it with and without onboard RAID, Ive flashed the BIOS to the latest version I can find, I’ve removed all the memory sticks and ran without them sequentially, Ive removed and re-seated the CPU, I’ve tried running without each HDD connected. Still the problem persists.
Please can someone advise me what I should be setting in the BIOS? to make this machine run smoothly, It’s the best hardware I could afford, I just want it to work!
Also I get a bizarre series of beeps and chirps form the BIOS (even when it boots successfully).
