Having my FX57 for amost a year now i want to overclock it to 3.0 , is it worth it and would i notice to change , before i pass it down to my younger brother, i am using a standard Akasa AK856 cooling

I did overclock to 3GHz today but the temps when from 35-65 in a flash then pc locked up , i did change the voltage to 1.5 or should it be lower and the multipler to x15

Can anyone recomend any better CPU coolers or some better advice , if i added a better CPU cooler would i have to change the speed in the bios settings ?

I had the fx57 for best part of 12 months and it overclocked quite easy to 3.0gig , by raising the fsb you are also loading your ram unless you use a divider , if i was you i would just up the multi to try it and see if its stable, you might not need any more volts, mine did 3 gig on stock cooler which on the retail fx is quite a good one, if temps do shoot up i could recommend the arctic freezer pro as its cheap and effective

Thanks guys , i still think is worth keeping the FX 57 for a while , i will be handing down to my younger bro soon after my upgrade , if i add another cooler will i have to change fan speed or just live like it is ?

if you get an alarm during post then you may have to select a lower setting in bios , but just plug one in and see what happens , btw i noticed from your sig you have the evga 8800 gtx , is it good as i might buy one soon
