Overclocking Geil Value RAM

I'm hoping to get my Geil Value RAM (2 x 1GB) running at 225MHz with timings of 2.5-3-3-7 (1T).

I tried Prime overnight at stock voltage (2.6V, I assume) and it failed after 3 hours.

I assume that I just keep increasing the DDR volts and retrying - whats a safe maximum?

Cheers,

Nigel

Give upto 2.8V without batting an eyelid.

What motherboard do you have?

memtest for 24hrs. Use test 5 & 8 for overclocking and then all tests to check it at the end

Why bother with 24hr memtest

I use memtest for half an hour or so for memory overclocking. Then tweak the whole system too stability with long runs of prime. There's no point in running a 24hr memtest, because you're going to have to run prime aswell to test the overall stability.

Prime blend test will thrash the whole system, so if you're happy to use prime then its still a good memory test, if you get a good few hours in prime stable then you wouldn't need to bother with memtest.

Thanks for the info.

My memory has just passed MemTest32 for 9 hours running at 225MHz at 2.65V.

Looking good.

Cheers,

Nigel

Nice clocks, nice volts :)

Whats Memtest32 btw, there's memtest86+ which you have to put on a boot disk, or Memtest which runs in windows.
