I'm trying to overclock my MSI HD 7970 TF III to 1200/1400 and I keep getting display driver crash.

I've tried the core on the following, while leaving mem at 1400mhz, but I keep getting display driver crash.
- 1200
- 1190
- 1180
- 1170

I've been testing the overclock in Luxmark v2, using GPU only and scene as room.

If I wanted to keep the overclock to 1200/1400, what MV would I need to change it too allowing it to be stable? I'm already adding the +20% power.

What core voltage are you setting? It would not do 1200MHz on the default voltage. It might not be able to do 1200MHz on any voltage. :) I recommend you to use Unigine Valley 1.0 for stability testing. 1 hour loop of this and no artefacts is 90-95% stable, then only prolonged gaming sessions can prove this wrong.

Generally for Tahiti XT2 overclock, I would start with 1150mV and see what is stable at that level. Than start increasing the voltage until I see the next step in frequency stable. Also it will be very beneficial to overclock your memory. If your core can go only 1150MHz and your memory goes up to say 1750 you will have a more than hefty boost in performance. Have in mind that the memory can be overvolted as well but I would not go over 1.6-1.65V on that and I would not go over 1.3V on the core. I do not think the TFIII cooler can cool 1.3V on the core anyway but still, just to warn you. Get MSI Afterburner's last beta and play with it.

Also have in mind that different drivers overclock differently, so you will have to experiment with this as well.

Up to 1.3v is safe on Tahiti as long as you can keep temps in check. I would suggest you'd need at least 1.25v for 1200 or higher.

My MSI TF3 OC BE is at 1.256V standard, the max it goes to is 1.3V and I can get 1190-1200 depending on what I run, the memory goes nuts though, upto 1850 I've had it stable, but it doesn't make much difference TBH, its mainly about the core.
