Okay so I've had my rig for about 4 months now (specs in signature) and I'm thinking about overclocking it. My cooler is a Zalman CNPS 9900MAX which I know isn't the king of coolers, but at the time of building I wasn't going to overclock. Can anyone give me an idea of what sort of speeds to aim for without dangerously high temps. I was thinking around the 4-4.2GHz mark.

Advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I have the same chip and I just bought the same cooler 2 days ago. Still waiting for ocuk to deliver it. I read a lot of reviews on this cooler and 4.5 ghz will be reliable with that cooler. Just need good paste.

I think I'll go for 4.2ghz though. Just a little overclocking will do me:)

For an easy OC, just do what I did. Up the Multi to 42 or 44 with a vcore of 1.18v then prime using small fft's for about an hour or so. If at all you BSOD up the vcore a notch more. Or you could do it the longer way and use default vcore and up the multi to 40 then prime using small fft's for a few hours, if all goes well then up the multi again to 41, repeat prime. Only when you get errors add a notch more vcore. Keep going until you've reached your desired speed, but keep an eye on your temps.

As for OC'ing the memory, I have no clue on that as I' total nubbin on that score.
