Overclocking Help

You shouldn't need to disable anything in order to get a stable overclock.

The only things that I disable are the spread spectrum options. For the Sandy and Ivy bridge boards, it is as simple as put the frequency and voltage up to the max that you can sustain the heat from, and then measure stability. If unstable, knock down the multi by 1 and try again. Rinse, repeat! You'll eventually find the max permissable overclock for that CPU/board

Just don't try and overclock the memory and base clock to start with. Sandy/Ivy components react best to multiplier overclocks most significantly.

Try and let us know how you get on.

I've the i5 3570K and Z77 D3H motherboard, I'm looking into overclocking the chip around to 4.5GHz, how do I start it off?

update the bios to F18 before you do anything :)

then it's a case of learning I can't advise you I'm afraid.

Multiplier to 45 x adjust voltage on CPU core accordingly till its stable for what you need it for.

Make small adjustments only see how they effect your system. Learn your self don't be spoon fed its the best way to learn most about your own system.

I always recommend clunk.org for good reviews - specifically his living reviews.

he also does a good guide to overclocking. It's for Sandy bridge, but the principles remain the same.

Have a read, then come back if you have specifics you're stuck on.
