Hi guys,

Just finished the build for my PC and I have a i5 6600k.

Could someone help me with what I can overclock this to with my system specs?

Cooler Master MasterBox 5 Midi Tower Case - White
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
Gigabyte Z170-Gaming K3 Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Super Flower Platinum King 650W 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply - Black
Sapphire Vapour-X w/ Dual Fan 120mm CPU Cooler
SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon™ R9 390 8G with back plate
Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 Vengeance LPX 46 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4

Appreciate the help.

Peace out

I would set the core voltage to a fixed 1.3v to start with. Then start bumping up the multiplier 2 at a time. Use intel burn test to check for stability each increment whilst watching your temps don't go over 80c.

You should be able to hit around 4.5 / 4.6ghz at 1.3v I'd say but of course all chips are different.

Once you find a happy medium for speed, heat and stability you can work out what offset you need to keep the voltage at around 1.3v whilst under load. That way the voltage will drop down when the cpu is idle.

It's trial and error really but pretty easy stuff. I aim to keep my chip around 1.3v but it is supposedly safe to go up to 1.4v. I feel the extra heat is not worth it though.

Good luck :)

So tried this, saved and exited, computer restarted, came back on, went back off and came back on. I then read an error message and took me back to BIOS so I reset to normal and it started fine?

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Hi again.

So i've overclocked to 4.7Ghz at 1.35v VCORE...I can play a game for a few moments and my PC just freezes, I cannot move anything and the audio is just a constant buzz. I have to hard shutdown my PC and the audio still continues?

Start it back up and it's fine again? All games are running at a locked 60fps and my cpu very rarely even reaches 60 degrees Celsius, any ideas?

Thanks
