Overclocking HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ X (Non-Turbo Edition)

I imagine this one isn't the turbo edition because they couldn't keep it stable above 1.1Ghz. The stock clocks this card ships with are 1Ghz on the Core and 1200Mhz on the Memory. I've already used the extra 20% power control (I know this is unrelated to direct voltage tweaks).

Via CCC I can OC without altering the voltage to 1.1Ghz and 1250Mhz. Anything beyond that and I'll BSOD or a game will crash. Many folks say that they were able to get theirs to 1175 and max the memory clock to 1450 on stock. However I am unfortunate in this regard.

So recently I tried overclocking and this time I used voltages, which I'm fairly new to, but not a complete idiot to.

The stock voltage on the HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ X is 1.219. During overclock, I tried all sorts of low OC, mid OC, high OC variables, bumps, all sorts, but my voltage never went beyond 1.25. According to MSI Afterburner this unit can go to 1.3v, although that is excessive and I'd rather avoid that.

Used GPU-Z and VRMs are relatively cool - no surprise given it's not a reference card.

I'm having trouble. I'd really like to be able to push 1200 on the Core and 1400Mhz on the Memory. Is 1.27v too excessive? What about life span at that voltage? Again my VRMs are pretty cool.

I can run Ultra on BF4 at 1080p, but some areas (especially with smoke) the FPS can tumble abit into the 30s, which I don't like. I don't use HBAO, I use SSAO. The performance difference is huge but I don't see much benefit, so I'm happy to keep using SSAO. Deferred AA is off, I use post on high.

Currently I'm just using all High settings on BF4 with AA deferred off and SSAO on. I'm not using Vsync.

Help?

Oh, I'm using a Coolermaster 500w modular PSU which does have 2x 75w connectors. it is fairly efficient, (borderline bronze 70%+ but not marked so). This PC is over a year old now. Processor is i5-2500K stock voltage overlocked to 4Ghz.

Oh, an Merry Christmas everyone.

I'll shorten it for those who cannot be bothered to read the original post.

Will using 1.27v on my 7870, make the card go pop, sooner than it would if it was wasn't OC'd via voltage (aka 1.219v) or if it was at 1.25v.

The VRMs are relatively cool, but do bear in that it is 10 degrees cooler in this room than it would be in summer.

My card is a HIS Radeon 7870 IceQ X.
