hello all,

i was wondering if anyone out there has tried to change the turbo mulitplier for the i5 2400
i have read and i quote from the legitreviews.com website

"Our Core i5 2400 is rated at 3.1GHz with a typical Turbo speed of 3.2GHz with four active cores, with an absolute maximum of 3.4GHz under a single core load. By changing the Turbo multipliers to the maximum allowed either in the BIOS or the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and raising the power consumption limits to 135W we were able to get the Core i5 2400 to run at a solid and steady 3.6GHz with a full 4 core load. 2 and 3 core loads are allowed to run at 3.7GHz and under single core loads Turbo was allowed up to 3.8GHz. These are noticeable increases in speed and only added about 15w of additional power use. It was on default voltage as well."

firstly , is this acurute
secondly, i consider myself a n00b, this why i asking as i wouldnt mind trying it.

my rig is
i5 2400 @3.1 non k series
asus p8h67-m pro
G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C8 1333MHz
2x 500 gig hdd
msi n450 gts oc edition

any help in anyway would be greatful

As far as i know turbo only works on 1 core.

Overclocking of any kind isnt possible on a non K cpu and a H67 motherboard. Raising the BLCLK past 100 will possibly result in a dead CPU.

Pretty sure overclocking the non k-series chips isn't really do-able.
On top of that you have a H67 board as opposed to a P67 which are the ones with the overclock options.
AFAIK you'll not be able to overclock it but someone with a bit more knowledge may say otherwise.

EDIT: Too slow.

No overclocking besides BLCK with i5-2400, and that is definitely not recommended. Turbo Boost in these chips is 100/200/300/400 MHz for 4/3/2/1 cores in use, respectively.

You can overclock the i5-2500K on an H67 motherboard by 400 MHz (essentially changing the Turbo Boost modes to 500/600/700/800 MHz for 4/3/2/1 cores), you need P67 to get more than that.

So if you have an H67 and 2500K you are still very limited on OC?

Wow, how disappointing after the H55 boards which were still great for overclocking the likes of Core i3 530/540/etc, or hell, even my i5 760!

Correct and the P67 boards don't utilise the on board graphics.

cheers for all ya help

need the revis 2 board now
werent a happy boy

i had the hdd's in 0 and 1 or whatever there are lol and had the dvdr in the dodgy one,
