Hi,
I have just finished building my new PC and i have a few question that hope someone here will be able to help me with.

The components i am using are:

CPU(+fan)/RAM/Mobo -> http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE
Graphics -> https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-174-OK
HDD -> https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-252-SE

1) I am using the i5 2500 overclocked bundle, but the overclocking does not appear to be activated. I've had a quick look around the BIOS and couldnt see anywhere to active it, but to be honist im not really sure what i am looking for. Could anyone give me some advice on how to active this or point me to a guide?

2) I have just discovered that my new graphics card is only able
to support 1 VGA monitor, but i currently have 2 VGA monitors
and i need them both active.

I have another graphics older card (GTX 260 GS) which i would be happy to use for my second monitor but im not sure if i have sufficient power
for all of my components.

I currently have a 550W PSU, Would this be enough to safeley power
the components i listed above and the additional graphics card?
(Note: I am not using anything other what is listed above, no extra fans, CD-drives etc)

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I assume you are asking me where i am reading the CPU speed from on my PC? I am reading it from Windows System Info and i it also appears to display as 3.30 on the main the BIOS

Regarding the graphics card, i am currently using a VGA -> DVI converter on both monitors, from what ive read i believe the problem is with converting the DVI-D port to VGA.

Hey,

Right I can help you with the overclocking issue, but will leave your other problems to other forum members.

That bundle is pre overclocked by OCUK so you shouldn't have to do anything.

To double check however you can download a program called CPU-Z it is a piece on monitoring software which will tell you pretty much anything you need to know. However you'll also need another piece of software to get the CPU running under full load I suggest downloading Prime95.

Links:

CPU-Z
Prime95

Once you have downloaded both these pieces of software you need to open them both.

Just leave CPU-Z running and select the top test in prime95 (the one labelled 'small FFTs').

Prime95 will then start torture testing your CPU as this begins have a look at CPU-Z, under the 'clocks' heading in CPU-Z you'll see a readout that says 'Core speed' once Prime95 has started running this figure should jump from about 1600.0MHz to 4600.0MHz. If after about five minutes 4600.0MHz is not the displayed core speed then there is something wrong with the overclock.

I doubt there will be anything wrong with the overclock but for your piece of mind you can check as instructed above. I hope the instructions are easy to follow I tried to make it as simple as I could :). If you have any further problems trying to test then let me know! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the links to the stress testing tools, it appears the CPU is overclocked and working correctly :)

Anyone able to offer any further advise regarding the graphics card?

Thats OK, glad it helped you out.

The easiest way to hook up your second VGA monitor is with a DVI to VGA adapter cable:

regarding your second graphics card, you will not be able to use two graphics cards that aren't the same model. You need two cards that are identical and are SLI or Crossfire compatible. You might get away with running two GTX550 with a 550Watt PSU but if you want to overclock them both you'll need at least a 600Watt I'd say but 700Watts can't hurt :D
