Hello All!

I've finally decided that I will overclock my i7 2600k after 2 years of having it.
I need some pointing in the right direction as I'm not sure how to go about this.
First of all, which cooler should I buy? The Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo seems just about right but I need input from others.
Also, I am going to buy the insurance plan that Intel offer to customers in the event that (hopefully not) something goes wrong.

Help Is Appreciated!

I wouldn't worry about the overclocking insurance, honestly the only way you are going to break it is by handling it, it is pretty much impossible to break CPUs through overclocking as they shut down if they get too hot.

Now, cooler wise, it depends what you are aiming for. You should be able to get a reasonably good overclock on the Hyper 212 Evo, probably 4.4ghz at a stretch depending on how your chip copes with voltages.

All you can do is try! Put the multiplier up to 44, try it at 1.25v or something like that on the Vcore and see how it copes. Then you can stress test using a program like prime95, and see if it crashes. If it does, you likely need more Vcore, just go up in small steps. Most people go up to 1.4v on Vcore, but on that cooler I doubt you will get there as on my H70 if i go to 1.38v the temps get too high (90+ degrees).

Ok Thanks! :)
