Hi all,

I have so far overclocked by raising blck to 190 and multi to x21 this gives me 3.99ghz,

my question is would it be better to go for 200 and x20 as this would clock ram high also?

current voltage is 1.3825 and temps go to about 81 tops with prime about 40 idle.

are these also ok or too high?

thanks

200 x20 will give you better performance however some mobos prefer 190x21.

You could try 200 x20 and test for stability.

vcore of 1.3825 is quite a lot for those clocks. You should be trying something between 1.23 - 1.3

76 is'nt high, if he is talking about his highest core temp.

Highest core temps iv reached at 4ghz todate has been 70c using prime.

As i fold, my temps are generally low 60's to mid 60's.
This is using custom water, and those temps are during the day when its hot, especially today, my room is roasting lol.

About the volts, manually setting the qpi volt generally reduces heat a lot, especially if u can get it low.

My volts for my clock below are

200 x 20
Ht on
Load Line Callibration on
Extreme Phase power on (you may not have this option)
1.275 vcore (bios), 1.264 underload (cpu-z)
1.275 qpi/dram
1.8 Cpu PLL (lowest my mobo will allow)
Load Line Callibration on
1.64 dram voltage

Those settings for me are linX full setting 20 run stable, and also 4 days of constant folding stable.

They may not work for you, but may give you some idea of what to change and stuff, allways best to try and set as many volts manually as possible.

Yeh i know what u mean, i can get away with my qpi being 1.2-1.25 for anything from stock upto just under 4ghz, but for full stability at 4ghz i have to use 1.275.

As the qpi/dram controller is on the cpu, i guess its luck of the draw if you get a good one or not.

I would try again to see if you can get away with lower vcore though, that is rather high for the clocks you are doing, but then again not all cpu's are the same. But the ambient temps atm are a lot higher then usual so the temp being high for prime, i would'nt worry to much with 60's from gaming, ok it could be lower but its not end of the world bad either.

Not to steal the thread or anything, but i'm getting some random answers from people, got my setup exactly 2 months ago,

i7 920, H50, UD7, Viper @1600mhz
Ive tried overclocking... but temps just seem to high for me, i got to 3.8 with 1.3 on my i7 with temps hitting around 80 on full load with prime, bear in mind this is with HT on.

I'm a beginner on overclocking, but i just cant seem to hit 4.0 GHz, some people are saying that 85 at load is good for an i7 some people are saying its very high.
I tried some BIOS templates from people with the same setup as me... but it just fails to boot most of the time, anyone actually know why i'm getting high temps?
