I have found overclocking these A64 to be interesting....

for example higher is not always better. what am i saying you ask? well below:

my system
3500+ venice
msi k8n neo2 plat.
1gig ocz gold 3200 bh5
550w psu
6600gt @ 550/1000

vcore is set to 1.475 for all in bios and mem is 2.85 for all tests.

now if i overclock the traditional way just FSB I get:

200 * 11 = 2200 default 2-2-2-10 1:1 5xhtt

210 * 11 = 2310 2-3-3-10 1:1 5xhtt

220 * 11 = 2420 2.5-3-3-10 1:1 4xhtt

or i could lower the dividers on the memory to 166/200 and raise that fsb higher

230 * 11 = 2530 2-2-2-10 (memory at 190mhz) 4xhtt

240 * 11 = 2640 2-2-2-10 (memory at 200mhz) 4xhtt

now if you take the time as i have just done to benchmark with sisioft prime 3dmark 05 & source default benchmark you will get almost exact same scores for each bar a few fps/ points.

i,e - 2310 gives me source 109 fps - 2530 gives me 112fps granted i get 1000 more sisoft score on cpu tester but is it really worth pushing the system that much for 3fps?

Now i know these scores on my system will be graphics card limited but i think people need to look at their whole system and say wow do i need to push volts etc to get 2500mhz when i can get the same performance from 2300mhz?

please correct me if im wrong or anyone else has found different result, but these are just my results and views :)

the only real benefit of going upto 240mhz is if u can hit 2-2-2-10 without your ram costing £400!!

On a side note, does anyone know what the OCZ GOLD BH5 chips can hit with more volts? i was thinking of getting an OCZ booster to give the ram 2.95 maybe?

2.95V for BH5...childs play.

Give them 3.5V and crank them upto 260-270 2-2-2-5 :D

As for your results, I think you'll see more gain from a faster CPU clock if you had a more powerful GFX card, your CPU isn't having any problems keeping up with your 6600GT.

Also sythetic benchmarks offer less load to the CPU due to their nature, gaming will stress the CPU more.
