Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can advise on a good stable overclock for the following setup?

I have updated the bios on the IX Hero, when I use the auto overclocking features, i tend to get a lot of BSOD's in windows 10 just after logging in.

Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - OEM
Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual OC 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung SM961 Polaris 256GB M.2-2880 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive
Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060025-WW)
Seasonic X-Series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Corsair CMU16GX4M2C3200C16R 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) Vengeance LED DDR4 Memory Kit - Red

all in the following case:-
Thermaltake View 27 Midi-Tower - Black Window

With 3x additional PWM case fans in the front. ID-Cooling 120mm High Performance PWM Fan - Red

Many Thanks in advance

James

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

OCUK allied with 8pack sell overclocked bundles with the same motherboard and cpu as yours so if you take a look at the respective threads they have kindly posted up pictures of the bios settings so you can try them for yourself. The 4.8Ghz bundle has a thread here and the 5Ghz+ bundle has a thread here. Just click on the links and scroll down to the bios settings and give them a try. No two cpu's will be the same but a bit of tweaking should get you stable around 5Ghz hopefully. Just keep a eye on temps. Try Asus Realbench on a loop for stability testing.

Yeah automatic overclocking software can be very hit and miss. It tends to run high voltages for only moderate clock speed boosts.

If you take a bit of time to read a few forum threads and watch a few YouTube videos to get an idea of what you are doing and why, you're pretty much guaranteed to get better results.

As above, realbench is a good test to run for general stability, and HWmonitor is good for keeping an eye on temperatures etc.
