This is a bit of a wierd one, sometimes when I overclock my cpu and run orthos my Norton antivirus says there has been an error and needs to shut down/reinstall.

Obviously I thought there must be an error but it runs orthos fine, im at 3.6 1.5v on my e6600 and thats just passed 40mins orthos blend, yesterday i run orthos for well over an hour ar 3.4 and Norton did the same.

If the rig is not overclocked then there is no problem and the problem only occurs when orthos is running not if you were running a game at the same oc.

Should I just uninstall the crap? lol

Which leads to me to my next question - would I be better of just using a free antivirus like avast free and using my windows/router firewall with the occassional run of yahoo antispy.

Just been researching more in the software section and apparently the word in there is that AVG is not too reliable, NOD32 seems to be the best option, I might see how it pans out with Norton.

It only seems to do it when orthos is running and a restart will sort it out, apart from that I have had no problems with it since 2003, if I do change it then I will give AVP or Antivir a go and if there not to great I'll run the 30day trial of NOD32.

Thanks for the advice. :)
