Firstly, here is my setup:

Gigabyte DS4
Geil PC6400
Intel 6300
HIS Radeon x1900 XT 512mb
Scythe Ninja Plus
Tagan Easycon 580

I've read the overclocking guide stickied at the top of this form and there's a few things that I'm unsure about. The main one is locking the AGP and PCI Bus. My board is PCI-Express so I presume I can forget about the AGP lock. However, I can also only find an option for altering the PCI-Express frequency and not just the normal PCI one. Would I need to change this PCI-Express frequency at all?

I hope this makes sense. I tried to build this system from the ground up to get a good overclock out of it. I've read the guide and tried my best to search the forums before asking these questions :)

A little update:

I've managed to get 2.17Ghz at stock voltages using the following settings. These seem stable running prime95 on both cores. Any more than this and I get a fatal error message on one of the cores and prime95 stops:

CPU Clock Ratio: 7x
CPU Host Frequency: 310
PCI-Express Frequency: 100
System memory multiplier: 2.00
Stock voltages

It's also running as hot as 60c at times under load. This seems a bit high to me with the Scythe Ninja. Should I reseat my heatsink?

Can anyone suggest what to try next. I seem to be a long way off the 3Ghz overclocks that some people seem to be getting

set your vdimm at +0.2V
set your FSB overvolatage to +0.1V
set your (G)MCH overvoltage to +0.1V
set your CPU voltage (vcore) to 1.35V

I can get mine up to around4 50 FSB stable on those settings on a DS3, are you on the latest bios?

EDIT: your temps are really high. mine hits 59C at load, and thats on 470FSB, and 1.425V, with a (supposedly) worse cooler, the zalman 9500 LED.

Would defo be worth reseating with AS5

Hm, I've reseated it and it's definately running cooler now. I've also updated the bios to F3 from F2. However, this doesn't seem to have helped at all. In fact, I've just had a prime95 fail at 310 FSB. The error that I always get is: "rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4"

Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas, I've tried the voltages suggested below but they don't seem to have helped. If it makes any difference to anything sensors view is reporting my vcoreA as 1.31 and vcoreB as 2.11. This after I adjusted the vcore in the bios to 1.35

I'm doing 2.8GHz...with all stock volts apart from my ram, which i overvolted by 0.3V to bring it to 2.1V which is what it is rated at at anyway. What are your memory timings like? Put them to 4-4-4-12 by pushing ctrl and f1 at the main bios screen.

Okay guys, this is getting weirder. Just reset all the voltages (except the vcore) and memory timings to stock and for some reason I decided to crank the FSB up to 400. My CPU is now running prime perfectly at 2.8Ghz. Temperature is 54-60 under load using sensors view, however, Everest seems to measure it a bit higher - 65-70, as does core temp. Which should I believe? Still seems a bit hot consdidering the Scythe Ninja. I have just reseated it with some cermamic stuff that came with the Ninja, I had been using some silver stuff branded 'stars' which had previously seemed ok with my Athlon. Would changing to AS5 help me much?

I'm happy with this overclock, although I'd like to hit 3.0 Ghz. I'm conscious that the CPU is getting hot now. It mostly sits at 66 ish according to core temp, occasionally seems to spike to 70. Should I be worred about this? I've noticed people with worse coolers getting 3Ghz at 60c
