What I usually do is just up the core by say 10Mhz a go, and then run say 3DMark05 and watch for any problems such as tearing. Keep going until perhaps it crashes or freezes and back off by 10Mhz. Then do the same for the memory and watch for sparklies and then back off by 10Mhz. There you go, found the max of that card and because its backed off from the limit games should not crash.
You'll need coolbits to unlock the overclocking feature in the Nvidia Control Panel.
