Overclocking my 8800GT

Hi guys,

I am overlocking my BFG 8800 GT to the following: 700 / 1000 / 1500. Is this about normal OC, the reason I ask is because I dont think she is completely happy with the current rates.

After about 30 mins play she locks up. Do I need to keep the fan on 100% when playing games?

Set RAM to 950, should not lockup any more. Mine is at 738/1782/950 (GPU/Shader/RAM)

OK will set it using thos values, that should be pretty stable.

What about the fan speed, I can change that to high but gets noisy over 50%. I am using ntune and atitool at the moment.

I would recommend using RivaTuner to overclock your graphics card.


You can easily overclock and change fan speed to see fit.

Yes it does, you just need to unlink the sliders otherwise the shader speeds increase with the core speed when the core slider is increased.

Hey skeeter.

I have managed to get the following still stable after 1hr prime and 3dmark.

E6750 core duo 2.66 @ 3.4 (8x425)
4Gb DDR2 6400
BFG Geforce GT 8800 512mb (700 / 950 / 1758) (70% fan)

3dmark score: 12993 which is miles better than my previous system.

Upping the memory doesnt really have much effect i dont think but someone will probably convince me im wrong on that.

Depends if you got an older or newer 8800GT?

And if its the new style 8800GT then you should be fine leaving your fan on *auto*

I cant be 100% sure which version I have, all i know is I bought her about 2 weeks ago!

I have set it to fixed 70%. Until someone tells me otherwise!
