anyway, this graphics card supports Directx 10 correct? as ive downloaded such and installed it on my laptop. although i was just wondering is this laptop supposed to be able to handle games such as Crysis or COD4 ? more importantly COD4, Crysis is only my friends.

i find that the game has a slight laggy feel to it ( only really tested online but the laggynes is even there when i start my own server )

is there anyway to overcome this, ive tried lowering the stats for the game graphical wise and its still not happening.

also, for anyone who has this laptop, has anyone tried overclocking the graphics card and would it help me with this at all? if you would like a video to explain what im dealing with, please suggest a good desktop video recorder, fraps or whatever and i'll do so.

PS
ATI Tool doesnt want to open properly on here :S it just freezers when it starts.. any help?

Thank you for all your help.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. The 3470 is not really a gamers GPU - what res is your lappy?

EDIT - have you tried it in DX9 mode?

My res is 1600 x 900

ive tried cod4 on all sorts of settings, nothing plays decently smooth. im fairly sure this Graphics card is DX10 compatible but i will try setting the game to DX9 in a bit

It is, but it means nothing.

it lacks any sort of true graphical power. Any decent card from 2004 should be able to outperform what you currently have. I know that my X800 PRO does.

i bet u can play all source game on high graphics but i doubt u able to play crysis. u might manage cod4 on medium

3470 = 2600~ iirc. Not a terrible card, looking at low settings on most games. Source will probably be mid-high, no AA, low reflections, mid textures.

Laptop cards need their own specific ATi drivers don't they? Probably means any overclocking via CCC will be disabled. Try ATi Tool, you'd be surprised how well some of these low end cards OC. I got a 6200LE to a 50% overclock once.

3470 is very similar to 2400, not 2600 series as far as i know...

Yup, and even the mid-range cards from the past generations have difficulty with modern games. My 8600M GT can only just about manage COD4 @ 1280x800.

OP...stick everything on low and see how it is.

2600 card, 2600XT? could play games quite ok, 1280x1024 could proberbly play UE3 games like MOH:Airbourne on high, no AA of course, I think someone on this forum had one and was quite happy with it, then went 2600XT crossfire? Still not the best cards though.

well someone above mentioned trying to oveclocking it with ATI Tool? well when i start up ATI Tool it sort of freezers... i read online that this could be due to the fact tha tmid installation it stops and vista asks if i want to instal its driver.

i heard this bit messes up the installation... anyway to fix this? can someone send me all the installed files etc.. or something. ive tried turning off UAC and nothing...

Thanks

A3650 is roughly the same as a 2600 Pro so the 3470 is even lower than that.
