Hi there,
I've got a P4 3.8Ghz processor on an ASUS P5WD2 Premium MB. I noticed in the bios that in the advanced settings there was a jumper setting menu. In there you have got the choice to overclock the CPU. There is an extreme setting and also percentage settings, 5%, 10%, 15% etc. When i hi-lighted the percentage setting the definition on the right hand side of the bios said that all settings will be auto adjusted, obviously it warned that the pc could become unstable.
The point i'm trying to get across and hopefully its not too long winded is that i uped the CPU overclock setting by 10%, then saved the bios. Windows started fine and when i went into the system box i found the processor was now operating at 4.2Ghz. I thought that overclocking pc's was a lot more indepth than a setting in the bios that auto adjusts everything, or am i wrong.
Can someone please let me know if its meant to be that easy, SURELY NOT.
