ok so i mentioned my overclocking results in the general thread and was told it is pretty impressive, i am using the stock cooler and am currently at 3.15ghz,

I have heard that these were very easy chips to overclock, i did it the simple way and just raised my FSB (yes im lazy) :P

im not going through and doing every superpi test, just the ones that are important really, the ones that are not calculated are the ones i havnt done

not too sure yet mate, thinking of getting a decent cooler sat on there before i try to push much more out of it, once i have a decent cooler i am hoping to hit 3.5ghz (although unlikely) i can dream :p

People wanted to see what the new C2D chips were like overclocking wise including myself.

That wasn't my point even though it probably came out that way. I am also interested in finding out how these chips overclock, I just wasn't sure if the OP was asking if there was something wrong with his Super PI or if he was pointing out his great overclock :).

i was basically spreading my joy to the world :) only got this cpu today and got a 69% overclock out of it on the stock hsf, to be honest i am simply amazed with it :p

Thats not too bad as it goes, appreciate that you included a screenshot from CPU-z and Coretemp. Have you adjusted the vCore in BIOS? like is it on AUTO or did you enter the value yourself? in which case what was it?

Super-PI is a really basic test of stability so as a sceptic I have to assume that as soon as you run a dual-prime or Orthos session that overclock is gonna bomb!

Get some stability testing done and post back your finding please.

I did run orthos for an hour why i ate my dinner before and got no errors, i will run it when i sleep tonight and see what errors i come up with in the morning, i have noticed however that when i set my ram (as stated in my sig) to 4-4-4-12 is causes errors on orthos, when i ordered it i was told it is native 4-4-4-12 but my mobo recognises it as 5-5-5-18, i have heard of problems with this before and apparently it only requires a voltage change, can anyone reccomend a safe voltage for this ram? also i have not changed the Vcore, it is still on auto

Ok, im pretty sure my overclock is stable now, i ran orthos all night why i was sleeping and these are my results
